We’re Celien and Roanna: best friends who became sisters somewhere along the way. For almost twenty years, we’ve shared a love of books, travel, food, culture and the long conversations that follow. Chapters grew from our desire to step beyond the page and experience the places and stories we first discovered through books.

 

Born and raised in Suriname, Roanna began her career in hospitality and has had an eye for detail ever since. With her love of interiors and beautiful spaces, she knows how to make an experience feel welcoming and special.

With Ghanaian and Surinamese roots, Celien has spent her career organising events. Luckily for everyone, she genuinely loves the schedules, lists and logistics that bring an idea to life.

Roanna brings the feeling, Celien makes it happen, and almost twenty years of friendship gives Chapters its heart.

As mothers with full lives, we know how precious it is to have time that feels entirely your own. Reading has always given us that escape: a moment to breathe, explore and travel somewhere else.

Ghana and Suriname, places connected to our roots and family histories, felt like the natural beginning. Now we invite other women to follow a book into the food, culture and conversations of a place.
